Wonderfully accommodating, organized, quaint, quiet visit. The moorings are awesome with elevated hawsers so easy to secure. On shore there are lobster shack, a local oyster distributor will bring oysters and other treats to your boat, small cafe with muffins etc, a couple shops for t-shirts etc and a small market at the fuel dock. All in all, go and chill out. The hospitality is part of the magic, the island is the rest.

Cuttyhunk is always nice to visit. We almost had the place to ourselves, only 2 or 3 other boats in the harbor.

Stayed on a mooring at Cuttyhunk Marina and had a great experience. Easy in, easy out, which is always appreciated when coming into a harbor. The dockmaster was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The mooring field is well laid out with clearly labeled numbers, making it simple to locate our mooring without any confusion. Overall, a smooth and stress-free stop that we would definitely return to!

Cuttyhunk is just sublime...especially on the shoulders of the season. We had a stunning sail from Portsmouth RI arriving just before sunset and cheerfully welcomed by Maddie at the dock. We enjoyed a peaceful night and when we awoke, there were a pair of dolphins (a Mom and her calf) schooling right in front of us at the fish pier. Great way to close the season!

Very remote island. Peaceful, relaxing. Harbormaster and staff are very accommodating. New restroom facilities. Lobster dinners, ribs and pizza are featured. Cuttyhunk Island is a gem to be discovered.

A very pleasant Friday night stay on a busy Labor Day weekend. Dock hands and adjacent boaters were very friendly and helpful getting tied up with no finger docks in between slips. Capt. John’s swordfish was outstanding! We cooked on our grill with a spicy marinade.

About Cuttyhunk Marina

• NEW EMAIL ADDRESS FOR 2026: [email protected] or 508-990-7578

Welcome to Town of Gosnold: Cuttyhunk Marina! We are open from May 15th to October 15th every year.

Our facilities include fixed docks, an inner-harbor mooring field, public restrooms, water and electric service, and free WiFi. We do not have public shower facilities or public laundry services so please plan accordingly. Our Town Dock, located on the Port Side, inside the harbor, includes 52 slips for both temporary day-stays and overnight reservations. Our Town Mooring Field, located on the Starboard side, inside the harbor, includes 50 moorings for both temporary 2 hour day-stays, and overnight reservations.

For overnight dockage, please make a reservation request through Dockwa. Please include your boat’s overall length when making the reservation – this includes any swim platforms, outboards, or other protrusions. If you need any special accommodations, for example if you require a side tie-up slip for an elderly passenger, please include it in the Special Requests section of your Dockwa Reservation Request and if we are able to accommodate you we will do so. Overnight dockage rates for Summer 2026 are $4.50 per foot per night, plus a $5 per night Environmental Fee, plus nightly shore power ($30 per 30 amp, $50 per 50 amp). Check in time is after 1 pm, Check out time is before 11 am. Depth at the dock varies by slip, the harbormaster will assign you a slip that best suits your depth needs. Our shallowest slip draws about 3 ft and our deepest slip draws about 10 ft. Water hookup, 30 AMP electric, and 50 AMP electric are available in every slip.

Temporary day-stays (0-4 hours) on the dock are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. To request a temporary tie up on the dock hail us on VHF Ch. 09 upon arrival in the harbor and we will assign you a slip if one is available. Please feel free to call our office (508-990-7578) on the morning of your intended visit for up-to-date info as there will be some days when we do not accept temporary day-stays at all and will have to turn boats away. Monday through Thursday are typically the best days for a temporary day-stay. Friday through Sunday are typically too busy with Overnight Rentals to accommodate Temporary Day-Stays. Please do not send in a Dockwa Request if you are only looking for a temporary dock stay.

NEW FOR SUMMER 2026: Inner-Harbor Moorings at Cuttyhunk Marina are now available by Dockwa reservation only. We no longer accept first-come, first-serve tie ups on the moorings and in-person payments as we have in previous years. The mooring is a blue and white ball with a gray shaft sticking out the top of it with an eyehole for your bowline at the top of the shaft. The mooring is marked “Town Rental” and a mooring ball number. Do not tie to any mooring marked "PRIVATE". Each mooring ball is chained to a 2 ton (4,000 lb) block and has a water depth of 10 ft. Mooring rates for Summer 2026 are $60 per boat, per night and include a $5 Environmental Fee. NEW FOR SUMMER 2026: This past winter we have expanded our mooring field grid and each mooring can now accommodate vessels 60 feet in length or shorter. Please bring a dinghy with you, as we do not have a launch service on Cuttyhunk Island. The public dinghy dock is located on the south-eastern side of the marina, just behind the two finger piers.

NEW FOR SUMMER 2026: Temporary day-stays (0-2 hrs, only available 11 am to 1 pm) on the inner-harbor moorings are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. To request a temporary mooring stay please hail us on VHF Ch. 09 upon arrival in the harbor and we will assign you a mooring if one is available. After being assigned a mooring number, to pay for your temporary mooring stay please send in a Dockwa Request. Temporary mooring stays are $30. All payments for temporary mooring stays must go through Dockwa, we will not be accepting In-person payments as we have in previous years. Temporary Day-Stays on the Moorings are only available from 11 am to 1 pm. Guests must vacate their temporary day-stay mooring at 1 pm. Temporary day-stay moorings cannot be reserved in advance so please do not send in a Dockwa request ahead of time.

When approaching Cuttyhunk from the Vineyard Sound side we do not recommend passing through Canapitsit Channel on the Eastern side of the island. It is safer to go around Nashawena Island, through Quick’s Hole, and then approach the island from the North side instead. As of 2026, Canapitsit Channel has several unmarked rocks, varying depths, and a strong current running through it which can cause hazards unless you are very familiar with the area.

The main channel into Cuttyhunk Harbor has recently been dredged and is about 11 ft deep at low tide. There are sand bars to either side of the channel with steep drop-offs so if you are concerned about depth, please keep to the center of the channel when entering/exiting. Please follow channel markers and give other boaters plenty of room to maneuver. At the main entrance of the channel on the Port Side there are the remains of a previous channel jetty, it is marked by a White “Rocks” Buoy and a Green Can. Please avoid passing over it, as the rocks are submerged just below the water surface and can cause damage.

Cuttyhunk Island is considered a harbor of refuge and even after our season closing on October 15th, a handful of mooring balls as well as our Town Dock remain available throughout the Winter for vessels seeking emergency shelter. Cuttyhunk Island’s fuel dock provided by Cuttyhunk Fuel & Supply is open from 8 am to 5 pm from May 15th to October 15th. After October 15th fuel dock hours are subject to staff availability. Please plan accordingly. The fuel dock is the first dock on your left as you enter Cuttyhunk Inner Harbor. For Summer 2026, Gas is $5.75 and Diesel is $5.45. There is also a self-service Pump Out Station located on the western side of the fuel dock with instructions on how to operate it. It is provided and maintained by the Buzzards Bay Coalition. The Pump Out Station is typically operational from dawn until dusk from May 15th to October 15th, and shuts down in the Winter. Please plan accordingly.

The majority of Dining Options on Cuttyhunk Island are located right at the Town Dock. They include the Cuttyhunk Café, the Cuttyhunk Shellfish Farm’s Raw Bar, the Cuttyhunk Lobster Shack, the Cuttyhunk Ice Cream Shack, Gosnold Grill, and live lobster sales. Further up in town there is the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club Bed & Breakfast for breakfast on the porch and Soprano’s Pizza for sit-down outdoor dinner dining. For groceries please visit Cuttyhunk Fuel and Supply’s store where they have modest groceries and provisions for travelers. Please plan accordingly. Cuttyhunk Island forbids the sale of alcohol products, nicotine products, and cannabis products on the island.

In order to keep Cuttyhunk safe and enjoyable for all, please abide by the Marina Rules and Town Bylaws. All dogs, regardless of size, age, breed, or temperament must be on a leash. This applies to the entire island, not just the docks. Please no flames on the boats tied to the wooden docks or on the wooden docks themselves; this includes cigarettes, cigars, and grills. There are metal grill stands in the parking lot just behind the Harbormaster Shack for you to place your grill on while you’re cooking. Please no wheels on the docks; this includes golfcarts, trucks, bikes, e-bikes, skateboards, scooters, and hoverboards. If you need to transport luggage from your boat to the parking lot please borrow one of the black hand-carts that are available for guest use. Please be sparing in your water use; Cuttyhunk is on a finite well system with limited capacity so please hold off on any unnecessary water use until you reach your next port. Please be conservative in your trash disposal; Cuttyhunk does not have a landfill on island. All trash is transported off island weekly at great expense to the town. Please consider disposing of your trash at your next port if possible. Please be sparing in your electric use. Cuttyhunk uses a combination of Solar Panels and diesel generators to bring power to it’s residents. Please do not overload the system and hold off on using any large appliances such as Air Conditioning. Please be sparing in your WiFi use. The marina offers free WiFi service for guests that need to keep up with emails and work while they are on island; please abstain from using video streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc.) as it significantly slows down the system for all guests. When using the fish filet table at the Town Dock please do not dispose of fish carcasses off the dock or anywhere in the inner harbor as it attracts pests. Fish carcasses must be disposed of in the outer harbor as far off shore as possible. Please do not climb on the marina rock jetty, it is unstable and may cause injury. Please do not cast fishing lines or swim off of the marina docks as passing boaters may not see you and personal injury or vessel damage could occur.

When arriving, please contact Cuttyhunk Marina on VHF Ch. 09. We will ask you to switch up to Ch. 10 to discuss your vessel tie up needs. For further information about Cuttyhunk Island, the Town Dock, or the Inner Harbor Town Mooring Field please call our office at 508-990-7578 between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm between May 15th and October 15th.

PLEASE NOTE: The two other mooring fields in the outer harbor of Cuttyhunk Island to the North and South of Red Bell #6 are run by companies separate from Cuttyhunk Marina. The mooring field to the North is by reservation only and listed as "Cuttyhunk Outer Moorings" (508-802-8633) in the Dockwa System. The mooring field to the South is first come, first serve and run by Frog Pond Marine (508-992-7530). Please contact these companies directly for any questions or issues regarding their mooring fields. Thank you!
