Fore Points Marina

The team at Fore Points is excellent! We decided not to anchor outside of Portland as we had just been thru 8 hours of 5-8 foot swells on the aft starboard corner and beam, and then 'run over' by a fierce, but luckily short-lived (about 45 minutes) squall outside of Portland, ME. The team at Fore Points is professional and welcoming. Stayed on the VHF guiding us in and then met us on the dock to assist with lines as the wind was still blowing. The docks seem very new. The winds were still forecast to be 20-25kts the following day so we stayed 2 nites. The location is excellent as we were able to easily explore a lot of Portland within a short walk from the marina. We enjoyed the initial stay so much that we decided to stay another night on our way back south!

The marina is amazing. All new and nicely sheltered. However, I never want to share a marina again with a noisy Princess Cruise Line ship. I can't fault the marina, I'm sure the broke ass City of Portland made that choice.

Very friendly and helpful staff

Pros: Facility is great. Breakwater means less rocking than other Portland marinas. Staff is helpful and friendly. Location is a little bit out of the way, but that’s an advantage. Only a 10 minute walk to the heart of old port. Con’s: Internet is pathetic. After many years still the worst Internet of any Marina we go to. Must be some strict firewalls or something, but it renders the service virtually worthless and adds a lot of frustration to streaming and checking emails.

Great docks and utilities - very clean. Very good security. They can handle really large yachts. Helpful/experienced staff. It's a bit of a walk to the heart of downtown Portland. I wish the showers had more place to hang clothes and a place to sit down. Also, wifi was really unreliable.

Lots of good upgrades to facilities. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. Docks are great and the staff are very conscientious. Would be good if the marina added wash down hoses to the guest slips. Have had them in the past but not on this visit. Can’t beat this location for staying in Portland!

Enjoyed our 5 day stay. Nice people and a great location.

Overall great location, very safe and secure with locked gates and overnight security guard. Very close to all of the restaurants and shops, etc. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the bathrooms and showers could’ve definitely been cleaner. Other than that- great stay!

Top notch marina close to center of Old Portland. New infrastructure, helpful staff, friendly atmosphere.

Well maintained and secure marina only a short walk to restaurants and bars. The staff on the dock were helpful and friendly. We'll be back.

Great Marina and crew

Docks are all floating with good fuel, water and power for larger boats. Services are very good and Eric the Dockmaster is extremely helpful and accomodating. It should be noted, commercial and pleasure boats will run at speed through the harbor and significant wakes are a constant event. If you can get a berth inside the marina wave attenuating walls it is no issue. If you lie on the north side superyacht docks it can get quite turbulent the closer to the outside T dock. A north or northeast wind can also make these docks quite rough. If you consider laying on the outside of the superyacht T dock then you might want to be above 1,000 GT otherwise it will be uncomfortable at best. All in all, a great marina and location to downtown Portland and all its great restaurants and bars. A very good crew layover marina. We stayed an extra week because the crew was very happy at Fore Points. The boss also enjoyed the walking trails and down town.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great facilities.

We were supposed to get slip assignments before arrival, that didn't happen so we ended up having to move slips. It's surprising to me that a marina with this many slips only has three bathrooms available. Fore Points was less expensive back when it had an actual reception building. While the marina is convenient from sea, it's no longer the value it once was. I will say that all of the staff were very friendly, professional, and skilled at their jobs, that part was excellent and keep up that good work.

Pros: - Wonderful Docks, truly world class suitable for any size vessel. - Proximity to downtown - Security, docks are protected by locked security gates. Cons: - Exposed to constant harbor traffic since marina is outside of no wake zones. Docks are exposed and VERY rough. Even with SeaKeeper on, boat is constantly bobbing up and down. Some guests couldn't tolerate the motion and moved into hotel rooms... Wakes diminished to negligible after about 9pm. - There are NO amenities; Think one step up from Porta-Johns. The area outside of docks is literally unfinished gravel! I really wanted to like this marina, unfortunately, I can't imagine that we'll return.

Great marina, Clean, Proffesional

Great Marina. This is now my go to marina when in Portland. Docks are new, stable, spacious and CLEAN. Very close to the center of town shopping and restaurants (the walk is no more than 10 minutes) and they can even help you secure a Rez at some of the top restaurants. Thanks for another great stay. We will be back.
