PYC was fantastic, especially their dock master Russ. We booked a transient mooring to duck out of a wind storm which was technically out of their season but they were more than willing to accommodate. Hope to be back next year on our way south again.

Club staff was incredibly helpful and gracious. On an outside mooring, so admittedly a little rolly with boat traffic, but no more than expected.

Russ and Steve were excellent hosts. From the moment I booked the mooring on Dockwa at around 10 pm at night on a sail from Portland, ME to Boston, MA, their response was less a than 1 hours. Email with instructions was very helpful and the next day their tender service picked me up to transport me to their Yacth club. Very friendly staff. Convenient location for sailors and boaters and good mooring spots. I will definitely go back in the future.

This place is very accommodating and the staff is top notch. This is the second time we have stayed with PYC and in both cases the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Russ, the dockmaster really cares about the guests and his staff. We will certainly be back and look forward to our next trip to Portsmouth

Portsmouth Yacht Club is a great place for a cruiser like me. They were so accommodating and anxious to insure my stay was unforgettable that I found myself changing my plans in order to stay longer. Thank you Russ and Wendy for your care and excellent service.

We opted not to stay there. Couldn’t deal with the switching to moorings across the river from where we thought. Launch service ended at 6pm so we’re having to go eat at 4? So we “ate” the fee and arranged for additional nights at a marina.

We had a very enjoyable stay thanks to PYC. They had just put in a mooring that could accommodate us, and if it wasn't for Wendy and Russ going out of their way to help us, we would have left the area after one night of anchoring. Their bathrooms and showers were clean and tidy. We ended up staying 2 nights on the mooring thanks to their wonderful hospitality and great facilities.

Good facilities, nice club, friendly and helpful staff. Significant current in river and it is a shipping channel, so try to request a mooring close to the fuel dock to avoid rocking. Channel activity tends to be busier on weekends, and thus lumpy in early mornings unless you are close to dock.

Overall excellent stay while we waited for Hurricane Erin to pass by. Wendy was the perfect host. The dockhands were always helpful. Diesel prices were reasonable too. Update after new stay. We we picked up mooring 1716 off the club main dock. The proximity to the clubhouse facilities is nice. Other than that, it is wake city from dawn till dusk. If you stay on the boat I would recommend you ask for a mooring in the cove. The staff is very nice and accommodating. It’s a 20 minute walk Strawberry Bank taking care in areas with no sidewalks. July 17, 2025 Very nice stay in PYC’s mooring field in Pepperill cove. It was a little rolly early morning with the fishing boats headed out but other than that not complaints. Great launch drivers and clean facilities. Did not buy fuel but did note pricing for gas and diesel seemed the going rate. Headed to Chauncey Creek for seafood while visiting. Prices seemed high and the quality was a little lower than expected. Gritty muscles and a tourist lobster. The captain from Maine was not impressed. Newark’s seafood was much better!

Very helpful congenial dock master. Great setting. We walked through PYC but did not use the amenities. Took a pleasant walk in the neighborhoods the club.

Founded in 1898 and proudly located on the Piscataqua River in New Castle, NH, Portsmouth Yacht Club is a gathering place for our entire maritime community. We welcome recreational boaters, the commercial and recreational fishing fleet, and maritime professionals from local, state, and federal organizations who support and serve our working waterfront.

Our seasonal clubhouse offers a full kitchen, outdoor grills, showers, and a fuel dock open daily in season, with transient moorings available both off the club and in Pepperrell Cove, Kittery, ME. Members stay active year-round through cruises, races, social gatherings, and community events - celebrating the rich seacoast traditions we all share.
