While the people seemed friendly there were numerous issues… way too much current unless you get in exactly at slack tide. In addition no one there to help…

Yes the outgoing tides have very strong currents and do make it difficult to dock boats without bow thrusters. Our reservation confirmation does state this and we call the boater and discuss arrival time.
Regarding assistance with docking in your particular case you were called by our Assistance Dock Master and arrangements was made as you stated your arrival time about 2:30pm. He agreed to meet and assist you at this time. However you arrived around 1pm, he spoke to your and he was at lunch not expecting you at this time, and did told you he would return to the marina in about 20 minutes. Marker 8 was a delightful surprise. Recommended by Craig of Polaris Marine, Inc, , we found the location more beneficial for our needs and preferences than our previous visits to the area and staying at other marinas..
The availability of daily breakfasts and happy hour were quite the treats! And the staff up in the dining room always started our day with genuine smiles and personal attention. In fact, all of the staff here were helpful and pleasant.
The facilities and grounds were laid out well and we did not worry about leaving our boat unattended. The laundry and shower rooms were much appreciated! Everything was clean, well stocked, and a pleasure to use. And, perhaps best of all, we enjoyed this lovely place for a weekly rate! Cruisers really appreciate weekly and monthly rates!
Thank you for convincing us that our future visits cruising through St. Augustine will be at Marker 8.!

Docks were in poor condition and power was not working. The dockmaster, Virginia, responded with weird lies, accusations, and blame shifting, instead of doing anything to address the issue. She blamed us, her staff, contractors all while being extremely combative and rude. All in all a very unpleasant stay.

WE ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE that the docks are in poor condition! Our floating docks are well maintained and in very good condition. In fact, within the past year, several fingers and pilings were replaced with brand new fingers/pilings, costing over $250,000. I believe your complaint was electric related, but you tried to amplify your position with a false statement that supported your complaint. Prior to your arrival, none of the other 4 boats on the west end of the dock experienced any electrical issues, concerns or problems. Also, none of the numerous boats which occupied your slip prior to your arrival, had electrical issues, concerns or problems. Upon your arrival, you immediately stated that you were experiencing electrical problems. It is coincidental that only after you plugged into our power pedestal, did electrical issues start showing on the west end of our dock. Subsequently, we had our contract electrician come out to the dock three times to address the issue. We did our best to figure out the source of the electrical issue but it was not to your satisfaction and you decided to become combative with our marina.by Matt C. - Verified user on Mar 23, 2026
Marina was wide open and I was placed in between the dock and the hotel where it’s difficult to maneuver at low tide.

Very nice place to be comfortable on your boat. Relatively calm, large & clean private showers/bathrooms, hot tub/pool on a nice deck overlooking St Augustine, on -site washer/dryer, complimentary snacks at the bar every day @5pm. Highly recommended.

Stayed for 4th of July fireworks, right under them, perfect. Staying at Marina gives access to pool, lounge, toilets, etc. Gina, the main attendant was awesome, very helpful always.

The staff is fantastic. It was nice being across from the city, more relaxed. Easy walk over the bridge to the city. Clean and well cared for facilities. We will certainly be back!

Not really a marina. A dock for boats, yes. A hotel, yes. Nice people. Small area available for pets to potty in a grassy section in front of the hotel room patios and balconies. No trash receptacle near docks. And SERIOUSLY listen to them when they tell you about tides and currents. We scoffed and it was rrrrrrripping through there. I’ve never seen an outgoing tide ripping like that. If I could post a video, I would. So when they tell you to come in on a REAL slack tide or incoming, it’s true. Do what they say. It’s way worse than what you will experience in the channel. Floating docks.

Overall we had a very nice stay at marker 8, Gary was super nice and friendly also Ellen. The dock is basically in the river so you are subject to the tides, we were not going to be able to make it into our sign slip but they were plenty of available and we were able to get into another one. It looks more like a motel than a hotel, But the rooms are super clean, lots of people are cleaning and sweeping and the staff are very nice. Room was super clean and a nice view of the marina and the downtown area across the river. Definitely a good value for the money.

The Dockmaster & dockhand greeted us & helped us into our like-new floating concrete slip at Slack tide. Jessica & Gina in the Office welcomed & oriented us professionally and warmly to the facilities and Chrissy served us libations and complimentary delicious appetizers at the Happy Hour/Social Hour open to both hotel & marina guests. Sparkling clean facilities and restrooms, delicious breakfast and apps prepared by Belinda rounded out one of the best marina experiences we have had on the East Coast!! Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay ! All the staff were very friendly !! The pool was a plus to be able to enjoy ! And the breakfast was awesome ! Hopefully next time the slip numbers will be straightened out. Hope to visit again in the near future !!
