No frills dock but clean and kind of a neat place.

Our stay was short due to scheduling, however, next time will stay longer. There is something to be said about docking next to a building over 130 years old. The view of the harbor is spectacular & the water in the harbor is crystal clear. The nearby restaurants, galleries etc. only add to the ambiance. You must take a tour of and learn what Ocean Alliance is doing on whale research. Impressive is an understatement. There is power for those requiring twin 240/50 amp service and a single 208/100 amp 3-phase service. The water in the harbor is crystal clear.

Our visit to ocean alliance docks was fabulous! what a great place! and brian, the dockmaster -- was terrific! he made our stay that much better....managing the marina, he also gave us a tour organization, provided directions to various local attractions, and recommended restaurants! full-service! the stay was not inexpensive, but the fee does support the very important work that O/A conducts on behalf of whales, and the environment. facilities are great, though modest, and we were very happy with our visit! looking forward to returning!

Delightful. We really loved being able to walk to the shops on Rocky Neck and learning about the work of Ocean Alliance. What a wonderful organization.

Awesome stay! Brian was very helpful and the bathrooms and laundry were terrific. It can get a little rough with the boat traffic but not a dealbreaker. We will definitely be back!

Its a great spot to stop when cruising north or south. Brian the dockmaster is a super star. Super quick in responding and just so helpful. Highly recommend any yacht to pull in for a few days and explore the area. We are a 80ft vessel amd they has 2x 100amp shore connectors for us

Ocean Alliance is one of our favorite stops on the east coast. Brian was so helpful to call us and arrange to meet us as we pulled in. Helped us with lines and power and codes. We appreciated how close the showers were to the dock and the free laundry with supplies, too. On Brian’s recommendation we went to Salted Cod an art gallery/ restaurant/ bar. Loved or dinner there! Do note that they don’t prepare hot food after 8pm.. we will be back to Ocean Alliance again every time we are in the area. Great place and a great cause to support as well. I’d give it 6 starts if the app would let me.

Good location except if wind is from westerly direction. Docks are in great condition and the Ocean Alliance connection is interesting. Short walk to an artist enclave with couple food establishments. Launch service to main part of town is available.

this place is very cool and pretty much as advertised. new, clean facilities. free access to the harbor launch service is a great perk. Brian was waiting for us on the dock and very helpful. it’s a working harbor so you should expect some noise at all hours. we arrived late and left early, but i’d love to come back again sometime when
we’ve got a minute to explore the area.

This was one of finest dockage we have experienced. We were given a tour of the historic building and the accommodations were outstanding. We will definitely return upon our next visit to Gloucester. Our dockage fee was a small price to pay in helping the research of whales. Thank you for your work.

There are no words to describe the fulfillment of aesthetic beauty—so superb and uncompromising—my partner and I attain when staying upon the new, unique dock at the Ocean Alliance. Located on the Rocky Neck peninsula of Gloucester—an area rich in cultural events, art galleries, and innovative restaurants, the historic buildings of the Ocean Alliance combine an anachronistic feeling of old Gloucester with all the modern amenities, including new bathroom facilities. The location, close to the harbor entrance, but accessible, quiet and calm, awards an incomparable panorama of all harbor happenings including the watching of the sightseeing schooners’ sunset sail excursions.
The first day we arrived this year, a Thursday, was the day Rocky Neck has its Culture Splash—where local artists and restaurants organize exhibits and food and wine events. We were given a schedule of the festivities by Brian and Alicia, who immediately came to the dock to expertly secure our boat. They are warm and professional—proficient seamen. We later saw the CEO of the Ocean Alliance, Dr. Iain Kerr, and the chief drone program manager, Chris Zadra. They, along with Alicia Pensarosa and Brian, are part of the magnificent, dedicated team of the Ocean Alliance— a research and conservation organization protecting whales and the oceans for over 50 years. A not-for-profit organization, staying at the Ocean Alliance helps fund their invaluable work. For us—along with the significance in our contribution, arriving in stimulating Gloucester, docking at The Ocean Alliance, seeing the members of the organization who have become our friends and inspiration—is like coming home— we feel protected and nourished and are always sad to leave. Until the next time, when we again will become enraptured by what the Ocean Alliance has manifested. You will never regret your stay here!! Thank you, Iain and team!!
