Absolutely great experience; good harbormaster. Only wish they had a day rate, rather than having to book a full overnight for a 4-hour stay. Otherwise terrific in all respects.

We got our slip number as we pulled into the harbor and help was waiting there for us. We did have trouble with the strong current and stiff cross wind but I can't blame the marina for that. Next time I will be ready for it.

Andy and the whole harbormaster office were very helpful. The were some boats using a side-tie that obstructed designated slips but everyone seemed to get along.

Two sailboat mooring buoys offer aheltered spot close to dinghy dock with great views of the working fishing harbor. Users are told to raft together up to five boats deep, with smaller boats toward the outside. Bring lots of fenders! The two nights I stayed I had a buoy to myself, but captains need to be alert to the chance that another boat will arrive and tie up to you. Good communication is needed to sort out which boats go where to enable departure sequence. I cannot say how this works out as I didn’t have to deal with any others on my mooring. Harbormaster Ryan and team are responsive and happy to assist.

Great SPOT they put us on the end. There wasn’t any water, but the power was perfect. Location was very secure. Our boat was too big to go on the floating dock so they put us on the end. The currents are very strong, but the Dockmaster was awesome. Meet us at the dock and helped us tie up correctly.

About Chilmark Harbormaster (Menemsha Harbor)

Welcome to Menemsha Harbor. Our aim is to uphold a well-organized, secure, respectful, and family-friendly marina experience. Menemsha Harbor is open to both recreational boaters and commercial fishermen. The village's historic harbor is a departure point for local fishermen, many of whom come from fishing backgrounds that span multiple generations.

In addition to booking a trip with one of our Charter Fishing Captains, visitors can enjoy the public beach near the harbor, take the bike ferry across Menemsha Pond to Aquinnah, and savor freshly prepared seafood at various dining establishments. The area is renowned for its stunning sunsets.

We offer two transient moorings inside the harbor that can accommodate up to three (sometimes four) sailboats. Just outside the breakwater in the outer harbor, there are eight single-occupancy moorings available for sailing or power vessels. If you have a sailboat and require a mooring, we will assign one inside the harbor by default unless specified otherwise. For power vessels, the outer harbor mooring field is the only mooring option. WE DO NOT PROVIDE A LAUNCH SERVICE, however, we offer complimentary dock space for dinghies at the town dock.

Docking options include 17 transient wet slips and a 120-foot linear transient dock on the east side of the harbor. Larger vessels, up to 85 feet long, can be accommodated on the west side of the harbor (West Dock). The inlet often experiences a strong current, and most of our slips require backing in between freestanding pilings. Docking may pose challenges for less experienced boaters, but our team is always ready to offer guidance and support as needed.

If you reserve a slip, you will be assigned to a floating dock slip if one is available. In the event that a floating dock slip is not available, you may be assigned to a fixed dock or a position along the bulkhead. If you would like to specify that you are only interested in a reservation for a floating dock, please include this information in the "Special Request" section of your reservation request.

Our harbor has been dredged to a depth of 9 feet MLW.
